THE STORY SO FAR

ENGLISH BIO (Jun 2012)

KRYPTERIA is a German-Korean four piece, fronted by lead singer Ji-In Cho.

Ji-In, who studied vocals and piano at the renowned Musikhochschule/Cologne, and her trio of band mates form one of Europe's hottest live acts.

KRYPTERIA have a knack for dramatic punch-you-in-the-face songs with sizzling melodies all spiced up with mysterious atmospheres and classical elements such as their trademark Gregorian chants.

But who is KRYPTERIA ?

After teaming up at the end of 2004 the band got off to a remarkable start by scoring a Top3 position on the German charts accompanied by a gold record for Tsunami charity song "Liberatio".

The cosmopolitan foursome then went on to leave amazed audiences in its wake ever since: Not only because they deliver high class power hymns that effortlessly crossover to the melodic genre, but also because they stage a remarkably energetic and entertaining live performance that will rock your socks off.

Bewitching Ji-In, guitarist/producer Chris Siemons, and the thunderous grooves of human dynamo Frank Stumvoll on bass and drumming/singing powerhouse S.C. Kuschnerus provide an epic feast for the ears, a killer show, plus infectious enthusiasm to boot all rolled into one.

Backed by a spectacular and celebrated promotional trip to South Korea back in February 2006 KRYPTERIA have been in hot demand in the Land of the Morning Calm ever since, as documented by No.1 positions in the Hot tracks international rock album charts, the video charts as well as the airplay charts.

During the second half of 2006 the band had been writing and recording their 2007 release "Bloodangel's Cry" with a vengeance, interrupted only by their Vietnamese concert debut, a set of tour dates with the legendary Deep Purple and their successful Wacken Open Air debut during the summer before enjoying a sold-out German tour alongside Subway to Sally and another blockbuster performance in front of 15.000 enthused Asian fans in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ready, willing, hungry and dangerous the eclectic foursome hit stages all over the world full-throttle again to further introduce themselves and to present the explosive array of hot tracks off "Bloodangel's Cry". And they did exactly that at some of Europe's most prestigious open airs, in Latin America as well as in front of 30.000 metal heads at one of Europe's biggest hard & heavy festival, the legendary Wacken Open Air 2008.

The band continued to do so with their highly anticipated album MY FATAL KISS, which was released August 28th, 2009. This record elevated KRYPTERIA's sonic intensity and lyrical identity to a whole new level and was instrumental in securing slots at top-notch festivals such as the Metal Female Voices Fest/BEL, Graspop/BEL, Germany's Rock Harz as well as encore performances at the M'era Luna and the Summer Breeze.

Early in 2010 the Krypterian family added six-stringer Olli Singer to the fold. He took over live guitar duties for Chris Siemons who due to health problems retired from touring but remained aboard as a member of the band.

Riding on a creative high KRYPTERIA spent the rest of 2010 in the studio, recording their most spectacular album to date, ALL BEAUTY MUST DIE, which was released April 22nd, 2011.

Right after its release ALL BEAUTY MUST DIE was proclaimed the highest new entry in the all-important Saturn & MediaMarkt album charts at #10 before it entered at a phenomenal #24 position in the Official German Media Control charts.

Then, in May 2011 KRYPTERIA made the Top 10 of Germany's singles charts again: Their BVB Championship Anthem ,,Unser Stolz Borussia" in combination with a #6 position marked the highest new entry of week 20. It also makes this release the highest charting song by a band from the Gothic and/or Metal genre since Unheilig's mind-boggling mega success "Geboren um zu leben".
In addition to that Krypteria now own the highest position ever scored by an official sports club anthem in the history of Germany's singles charts.

Follwing a successful German tour 2011/2012 the band brought the hammer down again live in Asia. Ji-In continued to paint sensually on the canvas of emotion, while the guys worked their rears off to rock the living daylight out of the audience. The band played even bigger stages and more excited crowds than before - wow!!!

Then, in early summer 2012 the band pressed the pause-button as far as their live activities for the near future are concerned, because Ji-In will give birth to a little singer this winter.

Needless to say everybody is superhappy for Ji-In. That said, the band also can't wait to get back on the road and see Krypteria Nation again.

Make sure to be there!

WAS BISHER GESCHAH

DEUTSCHE BIO (Jun 2012)
